About Jen

Inspired by her surroundings in the Greater Yellowstone area near Jackson Hole, WY, Jen infuses her appreciation of the natural world and dance into her yoga teaching. Jen began studying Iyengar Yoga in early 2003 after a knee injury, and although she began practicing yoga for the physical benefits, she has found that she has gained even greater benefits from the emotional and spiritual aspects of yoga. Jen's yoga background is influenced primarily from the Iyengar and Anusara yoga traditions, thirteen years of dance training, as well as the many years of playing and studying in the outdoors. She finds that yoga has strengthened her physical abilities and helped to prevent injury in sports such as cycling, trail running, climbing, skiing, and snowboarding. Yoga has also helped her cope with life's ups and downs, encouraging her to become a happier, more balanced person.
Jen graduated from the Shambhava School of Yoga's 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Program in Colorado in October 2009. The Shambhava School of Yoga is a Yoga Alliance® Registered Yoga School (RYS). Jen holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and graduate certificates in Environmental Education and Restoration Ecology from the University of Idaho. Jen has a background in science, communications, and nonprofit administration and currently works as a community food systems educator. She is excited about drawing on her diverse background during her yoga classes. Jen teaches all-levels Hatha yoga and alignment-based vinyasa, with a focus on alignment, strength, flexibility, and meditation. She believes that yoga should be for all people and abilities and always strives to foster a safe and comfortable environment for all her students in order to cultivate better health and awareness. A true believer in continued education and a fan of multiple styles of yoga, Jen studies regularly with senior yoga teachers and has attended trainings from Rodney Yee, Noah Mazé, Desirée Rumbaugh, Shiva Rea, John Friend, Seane Corn, and Lynne Minton. Jen completed the Anusara Yoga Immersion studies program (100 hrs) in 2012. She completed two 35-hour teacher training modules for her second 200-hour Yoga Teacher training with RYT-500 and Certified Anusara Teachers, Neesha Zollinger, Bridget Lyons, and Cate Stillman in 2013. In June 2018, she completed a 4-H Yoga for Kids training to begin offering yoga to 4-H youth ages 8-18.
Jen lives near the Teton mountains in Victor, Idaho with her wonderful husband, sons, and dogs.
